Introducing Richard 'Tricky' Jackson
Richard 'Tricky' Jackson

In our opinion, Richard "Tricky" Jackson epitomizes what natural bodybuilding at its best is all about. He is lithe, symmetrical, well-developed, athletic, and muscular—and he's not a freak. His form is what the human form is supposed to be, not a parody of it.

It's also difficult to take a bad photo of him, unless the photographer has a thumb over the lens. He knows how to pose to show off his physique's qualities. Although we've never seen him do a posing routine at a show, we were told that at the 1999 Musclemania show in Redondo Beach, California, he received a standing ovation.

Knowing that we were photographing someone of outstanding quality, and that he doesn't get to California any more often than we get to Kentucky, where he lives, we took a great many pictures.

In addition to the ones you see displayed in this collection, we have enough for two more complete portfolios and also some to include in another feature we'll have completed shooting late this year, to be called "The Bodybuilder as Abstract Art." (Guess you've figured out by now that for typical Muscle & Fitness type photos, this isn't the place.)

The next portfolio you'll see will include photos like the night shot you see opening musclephotos.com from May 15 to June 15, with "Tricky" as our Bodybuilder of the Month—the one with "Tricky" holding a brazier of fire over his head. And late this year or first thing in 2001, we'll have a second portfolio featuring more photos against the graffiti background you see in the pictures shown here.

A couple of other bits of information about "Tricky" might interest you.

On June 10, 2000, in Lexington, Kentucky, he'll be holding an NPC contest, the Bluegrass Muscle Classic. "Tricky" operates on the philosophy that if as a promotor you take care of the bodybuilders entering your shows, they and the audiences will be pleased with the results. If you're in his neighborhood, go see this year's contest.

"Tricky" also has his own extensive Web site, but go there after you've seen the following portfolio, because you won't want to miss this collection of photos.
